This is a brief list of items that I am looking for. These are primarily for items printed before 1970. It does not include everything but is a starter list. The values are the amount that I will allow in trade toward the pen literature copies that I offer. I am only looking for material that I do not already have good scans of. While I will be glad to scan the material for you the list is for items that you can provide good scans of on a CD or Email. For the specifications on scanning and saving the items click here. Please contact me before you do a lot of scanning to make sure that the material is useful. Non-USA material is welcome but may need some translation.
Catalogs, Brochures, Price List, Parts List, Repair Manuals, and Leaflets for most major and minor pen companies. This includes the sale pages for fountain pens and related pencils found in Stationary store catalogs when in color. Sale inserts from news papers and magazines are nice too. I also need the same color pages for fountain pen inks and related materials. If you have something neat that is black and white let me know. It might work. I am mainly looking for material that is of interest to pen collectors. It can be fountain pens, Inks, ballpoints, pencils and related items. I can usually offer from $1.00 to $5.00 per page on these items or trade completed copies of your material for the scans.
Blotters and postcards that are pen or ink related. These need to be in pretty nice shape. Ink stains and blots do not hurt if they are not too extensive. Post cards and photos of pen plants, machinery, retail stores, displays etc. I can usually offer a credit of $1.00 each on these but sometime more. I have no real need for the Waterman Calendar blotters from the teens and twenties. They are just too common.
Promotional items like counter cards and other display items. Any type of internal documents, advertising items, dealer promotions. This material is very diverse and hard to describe so let me know what you have. The trade value of these is up for grabs.
From the material listed you can see that I am looking to expand my offerings in most areas. If it is pen related I am probably interested. Some things are too common to be included unless there is something of real interest to them. For instance invoices are common for most companies and are only interesting if they are for a great item like a snake pen or a pen of pens. If you are really into pens and have a really unique item please let me know. Even if you do not want to have it copied or offered I would like to know it exist.
Above all! Please be careful with the items that your have. Most are scarce to rare and are a valuable asset to the hobby. It is not worth damaging them just to be able to make copies for collectors and researchers.
One last item that I am working on. This may be opening a can of worms but I have been expanding my library of pen and ink advertising. Yes these are the ads that are found in magazines and other publications. For the most part I can offer 50c in trade for color ads and 25c for some black and white adds (I am real picky about these). This is limited to those that I do not have. Every ad must list the name of the publication and the date of issue. I have a lot of ads so here is a list that I do not need. I am not looking for all of them just the good stuff that is useful. Large ads that must be scanned as 2 parts are fine but only count as one ad.
Do not need -
Nothing USA or Canada after 1941 except early Parker ballpoints with ribbed
barrels and Reynolds Ballpoints.
No National Geographic after 1923.
Need!!! -
Anything Leboeuf or Chilton.
Early Color ads prior to 1920
